Rendu-Osler-Weber Syndrome - Epistaxis Control

Patient History
- Patient with Rendu-Osler-Weber Syndrome (a genetic disorder that leads to vascular malformations).
- Epistaxis for the last 10 years.
- Many hospitalisations in different hospitals all over Serbia.
- Treatments by electro-coagulation, both facial artery ligations.
Pre-procedure angiogram of right external carotid artery: hypervascular area irrigated by the sphenopalatin artery
Procedure
- Embolisation through microcatheter using 1ml Bead Block™.
Post-Procedure
- Hypervascular area irrigated by the sphenopalatin artery using a microcatheter after embolisation.
- Epistaxis stopped.
Post-procedure angiogram of right external carotid artery
- The patient was bleeding again two months after the first embolisation.
- A second embolisation procedure using 2ml Bead Block™ and three Gelfoam plugs.
- Occlusion of the branches of the maxilliary artery.

Outcome
- Without epistaxis for five months.
