World Conference on Interventional Oncology

WCIO 2008

22 June - 25 June 2008

California, USA

Dear colleague

In the past decade, exciting developments in minimal invasive cancer therapy has lead to unprecedented growth of the emerging field of interventional oncology. The developments in molecular and genetic profiling of cancer by precise tissue acquisition, and the ability to target drugs, molecular agents, nanoparticles, and destructive energy to individual tumor masses using the latest image guidance techniques, has opened the door to enormous possibilities in multimodality treatments in cancer. The mission of the WCIO is to provide the scientific and educational forum where international experts from multiple disciplines can gather and advance the future of cancer therapy by exploring the potential synergy of minimal invasive strategies with traditional and other new oncologic therapies.

To build on the theme and success of the conference in 2006 and 2007, we are pleased to announce, for the first time, that the 3rd annual WCIO is partnering with the Best of ASCO in 2008 to offer a truly novel and unique multidisciplinary meeting. The reality for cancer patients is that their total care is provided by multiple specialists from diverse medical, surgical, radiological, and palliative care backgrounds. The objective of this conference, with a truly unique program developed by an international team of experts from multiple specialties, is to further the goal of cross-discipline collaboration and education and designed for physicians and care-givers from all medical fields involved in the care of the cancer patient.

Given the framework of this conference, all therapies dedicated to cancer treatment will be represented and discussed, including traditional and new biologic therapies, molecular agents, nanoparticles, viral agents, ablation technologies, embolic agents, as well as imaging technology for precision targeting and delivery of any anti-cancer agent. Therefore, the conference is also particularly suited for industry and scientists who are involved in the development of these technologies, or who are interested in exploring new agents, delivery systems, or potential synergies.

Therefore, if you are a provider of cancer care, regardless of background, we believe this program will be novel and enjoyable, and hopefully with your participation and contribution, another giant step will be made in fighting cancer.
